Woods Humane Society Offers 50% Discount on Pet Adoptions This October

Santa Barbara Santa Maria San Luis Obispo, CA, October 10, 2026 — Woods Humane Society has announced a special pet adoption event, offering a 50% discount on all adoption fees. The promotion is set to run for a limited time, from October 16 through October 25.

The discount applies to all animals available for adoption at the organization’s two locations: one in San Luis Obispo and another in Atascadero. The initiative aims to encourage more adoptions and find permanent homes for animals currently in the shelter’s care.

During the promotional period, prospective adopters can expect to pay half the usual fee for any animal they choose to bring home. This includes dogs, cats, and potentially other small animals depending on the current shelter population. The standard adoption process, which typically involves an application and screening, will still be in place to ensure suitable matches between pets and families.

The Woods Humane Society has not provided details regarding the specific usual adoption fees, meaning the exact dollar amount of the discount will vary by animal. Information on the available animals and the adoption process can typically be found on the organization’s official website or by visiting their facilities during operating hours.

This adoption drive comes as many shelters face ongoing challenges with capacity and resources. By reducing adoption fees, Woods Humane Society hopes to facilitate a higher volume of successful placements before the end of the year.

The adoption centers are located in San Luis Obispo and Atascadero. The promotion is valid only during the specified dates, October 16-25. Potential adopters are encouraged to visit the centers to meet the animals and learn more about the adoption requirements.
