OREM, UT, UNITED STATES, October 15, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Techcyte, developer of Fusion, the enterprise digital pathology platform, today announced a collaboration with Aignostics, a leading artificial intelligence company that develops AI-powered tissue analysis products, to connect their technologies into a single automated research workflow.
The integration, currently in advanced development, aims to link Techcyte Fusion® AP, using Aignostics’ AI-powered H&E spatial profiling product (“HETA”), with the 3DHISTECH TMA Grand Master, a fully automated tissue microarrayer exclusively distributed in the U.S. by Epredia. This connection would enable researchers to automatically core and place confirmed regions of interest from a digital slide image into a recipient block or PCR tube for DNA extraction. The first phase of development, moving DICOM images and ROI annotations from Fusion AP to the Grand Master, will be presented at Pathology Visions 2026.
Laboratories typically core paraffin blocks to build tissue microarrays and material for sequencing. TMA Coring is still largely a manual task, often with a handheld punch and an annotated glass slide for reference. Due to the manual nature of this task, it can lead to potentially misplaced or damaged cores that can destroy precious or rare materials. An automated tissue microarrayer like the Grand Master cores automatically and precisely, so the remaining question is how to automate the transmission of the coring location.
With this integration, a pathologist or researcher would digitally mark and confirm coring regions of interest on the whole-slide image of the donor block in Fusion AP. Those regions would be exported as DICOM annotations alongside the DICOM image and retrieved by TMA Control, the Grand Master’s software. TMA Control would then overlay the annotated slide on its image of the donor block, core at the confirmed sites, and record every core against its slide and block. Cores could go into recipient blocks for a tissue microarray or into tubes for DNA extraction. The hand-off would use the same DICOM path Fusion AP already uses for scanner images and AI results.
“Whether a lab is building a tissue microarray for a clinical trial biomarker study or pulling tumor for sequencing, the result heavily depends on each core being taken from exactly the right place in the block,” said Dr. Tiffany Chen, Chief Medical Officer at Techcyte. “By connecting Fusion AP with the TMA Grand Master distributed by Epredia, we seek to make sure the regions a pathologist confirms on the digital slide are the regions the instrument cores, with every core traceable back to its slide and block. Aignostics’ AI-proposed coring sites, reviewed and confirmed by the pathologist or researcher, would then build on that foundation.”
“Laboratories globally have relied on the automated 3DHISTECH TMA Platforms, distributed by Epredia, for many years, and we want to continue to advance this platform and the TMA workflow through integration with the Techcyte Fusion AP platform,” said Ryan Davis, Director and Global Business Leader of Digital Pathology and AI at Epredia.
