Its first campaign of this size will expand access to more opportunities that strengthen girls’ health, confidence, leadership, and readiness for their futures
DALLAS, TX, UNITED STATES, October 13, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas (GSNETX) today announced the launch of the Fight For Her, a $50 million capital campaign that will expand access to the spaces, experiences, and places to mentor and develop the future leaders of North Texas. This critical funding comes at a time when national data shows that just 2% of philanthropic investments are going to girls- and women-only organizations.
Today, women play an essential role in North Texas’s booming economy, representing approximately 46% of the workforce and generating billions in annual wages. But the region’s future workforce, innovators, entrepreneurs, community leaders, and decisionmakers are coming of age in a system that is not preparing them to lead.
The Fight For Her seeks to close the gap by creating the infrastructure and support today’s girls need during the years when their confidence, identities, and future aspirations are taking shape.
“When girls are healthier, more confident and better connected, all of North Texas benefits,” said Jennifer Bartkowski, CEO of Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas. “The Fight For Her is not only an investment in the well-being of our girls. It’s an invitation to invest in the future leadership and strength of North Texas.”
The campaign comes at a critical moment for girls across Texas. Earlier this year, GSNETX released its 2026 State of the Texas Girl Report, which revealed that Texas ranks 41st in the nation for overall well-being of girls and 51st for girls’ physical well-being. Nearly 3 in 5 girls report feeling persistently sad or hopeless, fewer than 1 in 3 girls are proficient in reading, and just 20% of eighth-grade girls are proficient in math. More than 90% of Texas girls also do not get enough daily physical activity.
“Texas has always invested boldly in its future. Today, that means investing boldly in its girls,” Bartkowski said. “The Fight For Her is our commitment to give every girl, no matter her ZIP code, the confidence, relationships, and real-world experiences she needs to become a healthy, resilient and capable leader.”
Through the Fight For Her campaign, GSNETX will expand access to programming that helps girls:
• Challenge their courage and build confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of self
• Strengthen leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Disconnect and develop authentic friendships and a sense of belonging
• Explore STEM, entrepreneurship, the outdoors, and future career pathways
• Grow into women prepared to lead in their workplace, their community, and across North Texas
The $50 million raised through the campaign will support the expansion of access to Girl Scout programming, allowing the organization to reach more girls across underrepresented North Texas communities. A significant focus will be on expanding and enhancing camp experiences, including an upgraded equestrian center and resident camp facility, family recreation facilities, and a newly designed outdoor space. Investments will also support additional Girl Scout DreamLabs and mobile programming. Lastly, the campaign will help ensure girls can experience the transformative power of Girl Scout camps and programs for generations to come through scholarships, financial support, and an endowment.
The campaign builds on GSNETX’s long-standing work to create environments specifically designed for girls to learn, connect, and lead. GSNETX currently serves girls and volunteers across 32 counties and has continued investing in new models for reaching girls, including opening the first STEM Center of Excellence in the Girl Scout Movement in 2018 and the first two Girl Scout DreamLabs in Texas in 2025 and 2026.
“For more than a century, Girl Scouts has provided places and spaces for girls to learn critical skills and develop meaningful relationships,” said Donna Epps, board chair for GSNETX. “Through this campaign, we will ensure we have the resources we need to give more girls the access and opportunity to learn to lead. This is our moment to show girls that North Texas will not leave their future to chance. We will fight for all of us.”
