Long Island music education company marks nearly 20 years of growth as former NYMC teacher becomes its first franchise owner.
LEVITTOWN, NY / ACCESS Newswire / October 9, 2026 / Nearly two decades after New York Musician’s Center began serving Long Island families, the music education company is celebrating a milestone that once existed only as a vision: the opening of its first franchise location.
New York Musician’s Center Levittown will hold its official ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday, October 17, at 10 a.m. at 3483 Hempstead Turnpike. The ceremony will be hosted by the Levittown Chamber of Commerce, followed by a Grand Opening and Open House from noon to 4 p.m.
The new school is owned by husband-and-wife franchisees Nerica and Jonathan Miravite. For Nerica, the opening represents a full-circle moment. Before becoming NYMC’s first franchise owner, she was a teacher within the organization.
“Twenty years ago, I was building a music school one student and one family at a time. Seeing someone who once taught within our organization now open the very first NYMC franchise is incredibly meaningful,” said founder and CEO Dr. Talonda Thomas. “This is bigger than opening another location. It is proof that what we built on Long Island can create opportunities for students, teachers, families and now entrepreneurs. Levittown is the beginning of an entirely new chapter for NYMC.”
The community response has been immediate, with NYMC Levittown welcoming more than 100 students during its opening week.
Founded by Thomas in 2006, New York Musician’s Center has grown to include corporate schools in Bellmore and Rockville Centre, along with its first independently owned franchise in Levittown. NYMC provides private instruction in piano, voice, guitar, drums, strings and additional instruments, as well as music therapy and performance opportunities designed to take students beyond the weekly lesson.
During the October 17 Open House, families can tour the new facility, meet the team, experience free trial lessons, explore programs, register for lessons and take advantage of Grand Opening promotions.
