Santa Barbara County Animal Services Offers Waived Adoption Fees for Veterans During National Adoption Week

Santa Barbara Santa Maria San Luis Obispo, CA, October 13, 2026 — Santa Barbara County Animal Services is participating in National Adoption Week by waiving pet adoption fees for all United States veterans. This initiative aims to encourage pet adoption and support military personnel.

The fee waiver for veterans is active throughout National Adoption Week, which runs from October 19 through October 25. This period is dedicated to finding homes for adoptable animals.

In conjunction with the waived adoption fees, Santa Barbara County Animal Services will host adoption events at various PetSmart locations. These events are scheduled to take place at:

• PetSmart in Goleta
• PetSmart in Santa Maria

In addition to the adoption drive, a specialized event titled ‘We Got Your Six’ is planned for veterans and their pets. This event will be held on October 24 at the Santa Maria Elks Lodge. Attendees at ‘We Got Your Six’ will have access to free pet care services designed to assist veterans in maintaining the health and well-being of their animal companions.

Details regarding the specific times for the adoption events and the ‘We Got Your Six’ event were not provided. The program highlights the ongoing efforts to match pets with loving families and provide resources to the veteran community.
